Q1: What is the default IP address of the managed switch?

Our managed switch IP address is 192.168.1.1.

Q2: What should I do if I forget the login username and password?What is the default login username and password?

1.Long press the reset button on the ethernet switch to restore the factory.

2.The default login user name and password of Houshi industrial ethernet Switches are"admin".

Q3: What are the management methods supported by the ethernet switch?

1.The ethernet switch supports CLI,WEB,SNMP management methods and the HouShi NIS management system

2. CLI supports console,telnet,ssh

Q4: How do the interfaces at both ends of the link determine the working rate and duplex mode through the auto-negotiation function?

The auto-negotiation function is to provide a way for interconnected devices to exchange information. The devices at both ends of the physical link can automatically select the same working parameters through the exchange of information, so that the transmission capacity can reach the maximum value that both parties can support.

For example, when a gigabit port is connected to a 100M port, the final working rate is 100Mbit/s. This 100M bit/s is the maximum rate supported by the interfaces at both ends of the link.

Q5: Whether the physical interface can be directly configured with IP address?

Physical interface is a Layer 2 interface and does not support direct configured IP adress. You need to configure IP address at IP interface.

Q7: After the ethernet switch port is connected to the cable, the port indicator is flashing, check the port status and the connection is unstable, repeatedly UP/DOWN, or the last negotiated rate is reduced

1, The devices are connected by twisted pair cables, and the following checks are required

-Check the cable connector wire sequence and crimp, and whether the wire sequence is made correctly, such as whether568B or568A the standard order RJ45 connector. Check whether the crimping of the connector is good, and whether there is a phenomenon that the contact is not in place. Change the cable and try to connect again;

-If it is a port with gigabit rate capability, the rate capability is reduced to 100M or 10M, check whether the twisted pair is a 8-core cable, if it is 4,replace it with 8,try to connect again;

-Check the rate settings on both sides, whether one side is in forced rate mode and the other side is in auto-negotiation mode.If yes, please set the speed mode on both sides to be the same.

2, The devices are connected by optical fibers, and the following checks are required

-Check the optical signal output of the optical port, and measure the optical signal transmitted by the optical fiber. If the signal output transmitted by the optical fiber is abnormal, you can try to replace the optical fiber or check whether the optical fiber connection is good;

-Check whether there is dust on the optical fiber interface or optical module, you can try to clean the dust on the interface and module;

-Check whether there are scratches on the ends of the optical fibers caused by careless plugging and unplugging of cables, and try to replace the optical fibers.

3. If the above methods cannot be solved, please contact our technical support engineer

Q8: The interface is connected, but the connection status of the interface is down

1, Whether the line or interface module is faulty

The devices are connected through twisted-pair cables, and the following checks are required

Check items

Inspection standards

Follow-up

Use a wire tester to test whether the twisted pair is faulty

The line tester shows that the twisted pair is normal

If a faulty cable is detected, replace the cable

Whether the length of the twisted pair between devices meets the requirements

Cable length between devices<100m

illustrate:

10/100/1000M electrical port cable is a 5e and above, and the transmission distance is100m

If the cable length is greater than100m, the following methods can be used:

1, Shorten the distance between devices to shorten the length of the twisted pair.

2, If the distance between the devices cannot be changed, the devices can be connected in series through the switch.

The devices are connected by optical fibers, and the following checks are required

Follow-up

Check the correspondence between optical modules and optical fibers

Users can compare according to the following aspects to confirm whether the optical module and the optical fiber match:

1, Multimode fiber is used in conjunction with multimode optical module.

2 , Single-mode fiber can only be used for single-mode optical modules, and cannot be used in conjunction with multi-mode optical modules. Single-mode fibers are generally yellow, and multi-mode fibers are generally orange.

3, The wavelengths of the two optical modules connected to each other need to be consistent.

If the corresponding relationship is incorrect, please choose to replace the optical module or fiber according to the actual situation.

Check the correspondence between the optical modules at both ends

1. When using single-fiber optical modules at both ends, ensure that the modules at both ends are paired: for example, the optical module at one end istx1310 rx1550, then the optical module at the other end must betx1550 rx1310.

2, Single-mode optical modules and single-mode optical modules are used in pairs, and multi-mode optical modules and multi-mode optical modules are used in pairs.

If the optical module is not paired, please replace it with a paired optical module

The wiring method of dual-fiber optical fiber

When using the dual-fiber optical fiber connection interface, theTXconnected to theRXof the local end isRXconnected to theTX

Try inserting the two optical fibers into the optical port with the opposite directions, and check whether they can be connected

Whether the length of the optical fiber matches the transmission distance supported by the optical module

The length of the optical fiber should be less than the transmission distance supported by the optical module. The transmission distance supported by the optical module is generally marked on the label on the module.

According to the actual situation of the existing network, shorten the fiber length or replace it to support larger transmission

distance of the optical module.

Whether the attenuation of the optical signal is within the allowable range

Use an optical power meter to test that the attenuation of the optical signal is within the allowable range

If the attenuation is too large, please replace the fiber. If the replacement fiber still does not meet the attenuation requirements, the length of the fiber can be shortened.

After performing the above checks, if the status of the interface is still down, perform the steps 2

2, Check whether the local and peer device interfaces are configured to shut down (shutdown)

-Enter the Port-Status and Settings page to check the management status of the corresponding port. If it is displayed as closed, it means that the interface is configured to be closed. Please configure the management status of the interface to be open.

-If the status of the interface is still down, go to step 3.

3, Check whether the speed and duplex mode of the local and remote interfaces are consistent

-Keep the negotiation modes of both sides consistent, either work in non-auto-negotiation mode or both work in auto-negotiation mode.If the interface is stilldown, you can try to change the interface to non-auto-negotiation mode to force the same rate and duplex mode on both sides;

-In non-auto-negotiation mode, if the rates at both ends of the device are inconsistent, please configure the rate of the interface on the port-status and settings to keep the same;

-In the non-auto-negotiation mode, if the duplex on both ends of the device is inconsistent, please-configure the interface's dual-common mode

After performing the above steps, if the status of the interface is still down, perform the steps 4

4, Check whether the hardware of this section and the peer device is faulty

Try connecting the cable to another port, if the problem persists follow the steps 5

Q9: After the power is turned on, the indicator light of the switch does not light up

1, Check whether the device has been powered on successfully, but the indicator light is not on.Use the PC to connect the device,PC can connect the device normally and access the device management page

-If the PC can connect to the device and access the device management page normally, it means that the device is powered on without abnormality, and the indicator light board may be abnormal. Please contact technical support personnel for follow-up processing;

-If PC cannot connect to the device, follow the steps 2

2, Check whether the power supply equipment (such as power strip) has the voltage output that meets the requirements of the equipment

-If the power supply equipment has no voltage and the voltage does not meet the requirements of the equipment, please replace the power supply equipment;

-If the output voltage of the power supply equipment is normal, but the fault still exists, perform the steps3

3, Check whether there is voltage input at the power terminal of the device

-If the voltage is not measured at the power terminal of the device, or the measured power does not meet the requirements, please replace the power cord or rewire the power terminal;

-If the voltage at the power port is normal, go to the steps 4

4, Contact our technical support

Q10: When the ethernet switch communicates, check the port statistics and find that there are a large number of CRC error packets on the port, which are constantly increasing

In general, the reason for generating CRC error packets is that the faulty cable affects the quality of the link, thereby affecting the transmission of data on the link, resulting in the switch receiving a large number of CRC error packets.

1, The devices are connected by twisted pair cables, and the following checks are required

-Check RJ45 connector is connected tightly and whether it is loose, try to unplug and reconnect, or replace the cable.Whether the connector shrapnel is complete, if not, please replace the RJ45 connector or replace the cable;

-Check whether the wire sequence of the cable connector is in good condition, and whether the wire sequence is made correctly, replace the cable and try to connect;

-Check the duplex rate settings on both sides, if they are inconsistent, please set them to be the same.

2, The devices are connected by optical fibers, and the following checks are required

-Check whether the fiber optic connections are tight and loose.Try to unplug and reconnect;

-Check the optical signal output of the optical port at the opposite end, and measure whether the optical signal transmitted by the optical fiber is normal and within a reasonable value. If the signal output transmitted by the optical fiber is abnormal, you can try to replace the optical fiber;

-Check the duplex rate settings on both sides, if they are inconsistent, please set them to be the same.

3, The above methods cannot be solved, please contact the technical support engineer

Switch access management class,web,telnet,console, etc.

Q1: I can ping the management address of the switch, but I can't weblog in to the switch

   1)    Check whether the IP address of the switch conflicts with the IP of the local PC or other devices in the networkaddress.If it conflicts with the local PC address, you can modify the IP of the PC; if the local PC address conflict is eliminated, you can first disconnect the switch from other devices, clear the ARP of the PC, and log in again;

   2)   Eliminate IP address conflicts, which may be due to browser cache and other reasons; clear the browser cache, and clear ARP, close the browser and reopen it to log in.

Q2:I can ping the management address of the switch, but I cannot log in to the switch through Telnet

1) Check whether the telnet function is enabled on the PC;

2)  Check whether the IP address of the switch conflicts with the IP addresses of the local PC or other devices in the network. If it conflicts with the local PC address, you can modify the IP address of the local PC; if the local PC address conflict is eliminated, you can first disconnect the switch from other devices, clear the ARP table of the PC, and log in again;

3) Use the Console to check whether the number of users logging in to the device has reached the upper limit.

Q3:After modifying the management address of the directly connected switch, the ping fails. How to solve the problem?

1) Check whether the management addresses of the PC and the switch are on the same network segment;

2) It may be caused by the difference between the management VLAN and the port VLAN, you can try to connect to other ports;

3) Through the PSDiscovery tool of Hushi, restore the management address and port VLAN;

4) Restart or restore factory settings;

Q4: Troubleshoot common faults that the console port cannot log in normally.

1) Check the settings of HyperTerminal, whether the console port is selected correctly, whether the flow control function of Secure CRT is turned off, and whether the baud rate is 115200;

2) Whether there is any information output after restarting the switch.

3) Replace the console cable.

Introduction to switch interfaces and common faults in connection

Q5: Why can't some electrical ports and optical ports work at the same time?

The electrical and optical ports that cannot work at the same time are generally Combo ports.

Some models of switches have combo interfaces.Combo interface is an optical-electrical multiplexing interface. A Combo on the device panel GE electrical interface and a GE, and there is only one forwarding interface inside the device. The electrical interface and its corresponding optical interface are in a photoelectric multiplexing relationship, and the two cannot work at the same time. The user can choose to use the electrical interface or the optical interface according to the type of the opposite end interface. The electrical interface and the optical interface share the same interface view. When the user needs to activate the electrical interface or optical interface, and configure the properties (such as speed, duplex mode, etc.) of the electrical interface or optical interface, it only needs to be configured in the same interface view.

Q6: How to judge which physical ports are Combo ports

   1)   Judging from the panel of the switch, a pair of ports with different media but the same interface ID are Combo ports

   2)   via command line or web interface

Networking problems

Q7:ERPS link traffic cannot be forwarded normally.

   1)    Check ERPS ring configuration and status are normal.

   2)    Check RPL Ownerport andRPL Neighbourport are connected correctly.

   3)    Check ERPS ring are connected correctly

   4)    Check ERPS ring/rate)

Q8:How to check whether the link connection of large ERPs ring network in industrial site is normal

Can configure and enable LLDP, through neighbor discovery Ownernode and Neighbournode are RPL connected correctly. Check that other nodes are connected correctly and no other devices have been introduced.

Q9: How to distinguish loop detection packets sent by different interfaces?

An interface with the loop detection function enabled sends loop detection packets at a certain period to detect whether there is a loop. If the packet is received by this interface again, it is considered that there is a loop in the network connected to this interface, and the interface will become blocked.

Loop detection packets sent from different interfaces can be distinguished by the interface index carried in the packets.

Q10: How to judge and troubleshoot broadcast storms

   1)   Generally, observe first. The network with this kind of failure basically belongs to the phenomenon that there are many devices and the network cable is disordered. First, you can observe the port on the core ethernet switch. If the port flickers too frequently, it is abnormal. You can unplug the network cable and watch the computerping. Check whether the time delay is too large or the packet is lost, so as to determine whether the loop information is accessed by its network cable.

   2)    The loop generates MAC address drift, causing network interruption.Because the ethernet switch has the learning function, as long as the host in the network sends a broadcast message, the MAC address will be learned to the port where the network loop exists.

   3)    Turn on the loop detection function, the port with loop will become blocked.
